Volvo V40, 2002, Siikajoki

Volvo V40 looking for a new home at almost any price (well, almost). MOT valid until the end of September; currently deregistered (standard removal).

Taken out of regular use when a new car arrived.

Interior is tidy and intact for its age, could do with a vacuum.

Timing system serviced in January, temperature sensor replaced in April. Also last autumn some rust repairs, right front lower control arm, rear wheel hubs/bearings and left front track rod end.

THE ALTERNATOR DOES NOT WORK. So don’t come from too far if you plan to drive it home. The battery can be charged fully; currently flat.

The VVT timing gear makes noise — it has for the last 1.5 years. It probably needs attention. Or maybe not.

The tyres are noted in the listing as not road-legal. Front tyres were renewed last year; at the rear there is a summer spare and one winter tyre used after a fourth summer tyre went punctured. Additionally there are three other winter tyres in reasonable condition.

Air conditioning works, but the blower fan behaves unpredictably. It still blows — for now.

Crack in the top left corner of the windscreen; no repair notice at the last inspection. Hidden behind the sun visor.

The driver’s door and the rear offside door only open from the inside. You’ll need to be fairly flexible to get the doors open.

There is rust — see photos.

ABS ring broken on the right rear (may not be in place anymore). This causes a judder when pulling away in first gear; it stops after a moment or when shifting to second. Fault lights on (ABS, traction control).

The car also needs a four-wheel alignment.

So there are faults — this is not being sold as new.

Buy and collect. Faults, a new oil filter and driveshafts, and a punctured tyre with a bent rim included.
