Evella acoustic interior panels are a quick and easy way to create a modern, architectural look. Panels that suit modern Scandinavian style form a seamless slatted wall surface and significantly improve room acoustics.

The panel backing felt is 100% recycled polyester fibre, specially designed to reduce noise levels and remove room reverberation. MDF slats fixed to the backing are covered with real wood veneer, giving the panel a natural, attractive finish. Installation can be done using the supplied screws or with adhesive purchased separately.

How it works
The acoustic slatted panel reduces sound in two ways:

• The felt works as an absorptive material that soaks up sound

• The slats and their gaps scatter sound by diffraction, i.e. disperse it in different directions

Although a slatted panel does not absorb sound as effectively as a dedicated acoustic board, it often creates a more balanced and natural acoustic environment, especially in living spaces. The difference can be noticed in clearer conversation or reduced ringing from sharp noises, such as bangs.

Natural sound environment
The panel’s natural effect comes from part of the sound being reflected by the slats and scattered more softly. This shortens reverberation and makes the room less echoic, improving comfort in homes and workplaces. In speech, listeners have less reverberation to process, which can help with clarity, for example for people with hearing difficulties.

Tip! You can easily test a room’s reverberation by clapping your hands once at different spots. In a highly reverberant room you will hear how long the sound lingers.

Installation
Panels are easiest to screw directly to battens. For concrete walls horizontal battens are recommended. The supplied black drywall screws blend into the felt, and extra screws are readily available from DIY stores.

If you want to extend the absorption to slightly lower frequencies — for example for music listening — you can:

• Install the panel off the wall on battens, so sound does not reflect immediately back after passing through the felt and is reflected across multiple interfaces

• Add insulation wool between the battens to increase absorption. The wool or acoustic panel used in the cavity can even be second-hand and worn on the surface, as it will be hidden

The panel can also be fixed directly onto partition wall insulation without plasterboard, but then the effect is limited to the room’s internal acoustics. A disadvantage is that sound transmits more easily to the next room, and the panel will not act as an effective sound barrier as a missing plasterboard would.

Practicality
Evella panels provide an easy way to finish large surfaces without demolition or skimming work. They are suitable for both walls and ceilings, and installation is quick.
