Reliable, economical manual Volvo V40 at auction — Finnish car with a long MOT.

Basic information & History

• Inspection: Next inspection not until 18 May 2027! Inspected on 18 May 2026 with no remarks.

• History: Finnish car with a clean history (no accidents). The car has been used daily by the previous owner from January 2022 to the present.

• Engine & Drivetrain: 1.6‑litre D2 diesel engine (84 kW / 115 hp / 270 Nm) and 6‑speed manual gearbox.

  
  

Servicing & Repairs

• The car has been serviced regularly and comes with a paper service book (see photos). The most recent work was partly done privately (not at a workshop).

• Timing belt + water pump: Replaced 14 August 2023 / 348,000 km.

• Most recent service: Performed 10 May 2015 / 441,000 km.

• Current: The car is currently requesting service, so a scheduled service is due.

  
  

Condition (Exterior & Interior)

Body: Overall tidy, but shows wear consistent with the mileage and some rust.

• Light dent on the front passenger door, visible from the side.

• Dent and scratches on the lower edge of the rear passenger door.

• The passenger-side mirror was originally red and has been painted black rather poorly.

• Normal stone chips on the bonnet and one slat of the front grille is broken.

• Scratches on both front bumper corners; the front bumper has been reinforced with two cable ties.

• Left front bumper end cap is very faded. Right rear bumper end cap has a crack but does not let in moisture.

• Rear tow‑hook cover is missing.

• Small stone chips in the windscreen, but the glass is intact.

Interior: Reasonably tidy for its age and mileage. Wear is visible on the steering wheel, gear lever and seats.

• Small hole in the left thigh area of the driver’s seat. Other seats are intact.

• The interior smells of car freshener, but cigarette odour is also noticeable.

  
  

Tyres & Wheels:

• Summer tyres: Original Volvo 16" alloy wheels. Rear tyres have approx. 4–5 mm tread (manufacture week 49/2023), front tyres are bald and need replacing.

• Winter tyres: Studded tyres on alloy wheels. Tread condition is surprisingly good, but the tyres are old (manufactured in 2015).

  
  

Test‑drive observations

The car is pleasantly composed on the road. Despite the high mileage it feels stable. The clutch and gearbox work normally and gear changes are smooth. The engine runs evenly without abnormal noises. On some bumps there can be a small knock, which may indicate a worn support arm or bushing — this has not been investigated.

• Dynamic suspension (factory -10 mm, firmer).
