The Ekohytte Frost has been designed with energy economy in mind. Optimised compressor technology and extra‑thick insulation make it extremely energy‑efficient. Ekohytte Frost uses only 0.36 kWh per day — about half the consumption of comparable products. The thick base insulation and high adjustable feet mean the freezing toilet must be installed in a heated space.

Before first use

• After removing the product from its packaging, check for damage. Contact the seller if you find any.

• Leave the unit upright for at least half an hour. Any oil that moved into the cooling circuit during transport will then return to the compressor.

• The unit has adjustable feet. Set them before use so the toilet stands securely and level.

• The toilet is intended for compostable waste, including toilet paper. Do not put anything non‑compostable in it, such as rubbish, sanitary pads, chemicals, detergents, matches, ash or cigarette butts.

Placement
The toilet must be placed in a warm indoor space. It can be used on a heated floor thanks to its thick base insulation and high feet. Heat will increase electricity consumption, so we do not recommend placing it immediately next to a radiator or other heat source. Optimal room temperature is +10 to +22 °C, maximum +30 °C. Position the toilet horizontally and secure it using the feet.

Use

• Press the biodegradable bag into the bottom of the inner container and fold its edges over the rim so the container can be lifted out of the seat.

• Ensure the bucket handle is inside so the seat and lid close properly.

• Plug into the wall socket and switch the toilet on — the green indicator will light.

• Wait about one hour before first use.

Emptying

• When the container is about two‑thirds full, replace the bag.

• Fold the top edges of the bag into the container and lift the container out of the seat.

• Compost the waste in a household or garden composter to which you have added plenty of dry cover material before emptying.

• Break the bag surface (for example with a garden fork) and cover with a layer of dry material.

• Check for ice build‑up around the container rim. Defrost if necessary and dry the walls.

• Fit a new bag.

Use of cover material
No cover material is needed in the freezing toilet. Cover material is only required for secondary composting.

• Unplug the unit

• Empty, clean and dry the inner container and cooling compartment

• Leave the lid open

• The unit may be stored in an unheated space
