Defects and other observations

Modifications have been detected in the engine programming or exhaust systems, which means the vehicle is not roadworthy. The buyer is responsible for repairing the vehicle to make it roadworthy at their own expense. Specification: Selitys alempana

Before listing, we carried out a test drive and condition assessment and made the following observations:


  • Coolant is expelled from the expansion tank under boost -> pressure test showed no external leaks -> expansion tank cap ordered. Cap replaced and test-driven -> system pressurises and coolant is forced out around the cap -> likely blown head gasket or cracked head.

  • The speedometer fluctuates by +/- 20 km/h (possibly causing the cruise control failure). 4th/5th gears jerk when engaging and can slip -> fault code for speed sensor -> this likely causes the speedometer errors and cruise control failure, and may also affect the gearbox operation.

  • Note: the vehicle is not in standard condition -> DPF and possibly other emission devices have been disabled, air filter housing replaced -> the test drive felt noticeably powerful (this can also cause gearbox slipping and failure as well as head damage).

    To repair, the cab must be lifted off and head gaskets replaced; head work may be required and in the worst case the head(s) may be cracked. The gearbox speed sensor must be replaced and then a test drive carried out -> the gearbox and torque converter may also require repair, increasing costs by an estimated €3,000–€5,000.

    Due to modifications, the vehicle is not road-legal; at minimum the exhaust system must be returned to stock and the vehicle software restored.
