Honda Monkey '77 yellow 7,345 km 2nd owner, Vantaa

Yellow 1977 Monkey in original condition with only 7,345 km on the clock.

This Monkey has had two owners. An easy restoration project — no parts appear to be missing and most are in good condition. Many parts can be restored simply by cleaning or polishing.

The seat frame and padding show little wear. The yellow paint has a lovely patina and, in my opinion, does not require repainting. The tank is in the original paint and a few small rust spots can be touched up neatly enough to preserve originality. The rims are in their original paint and surprisingly tidy, suggesting the moped has been stored indoors. Many small parts are intact and in good condition, such as the exhaust, seat, etc. The mudguards have some oxidation but can be made shiny and clean with polishing.

Nice patina — there is some rust and oxidation, but with cleaning this could become an attractive machine and fairly straightforward to register as a historic vehicle. Original decals remain, for example on the chain guard and tank. The previous owner fitted a larger carburettor; according to them the Monkey is running. The moped is sold as a complete restoration project.

The Japanese-market 1977 Monkey is very close to the EU model (last photo), which in Finland was, due to regulations, dismantled and converted into the so-called 'lightened' model (second-to-last photo). The EU model did not have indicators, and the lights and their mountings are slightly different.

The Monkey comes with the documents needed to register the moped in Finland. The larger carburettor may need to be changed back to the original for inspection if the moped exceeds 45 km/h.
