Volvo S60 D4 R-Design Auto — recently serviced & inspected, 2015, Lappeenranta

Hello to all auction citizens.

This time we’re putting up for auction the car that needs little introduction — the Finnish dream car and a wet-day fantasy, a genuine Volvo S60.

This is a 2015 R-Design with an automatic D4 engine, meaning this model already has the newer 8-speed gearbox and is noticeably more comfortable to drive than the earlier ones.

The exterior must be praised — there are hardly any marks, dents or scratches and no signs of wear; this car has never been mistreated.

The summer tyres are excellent, almost new, and the winter tyres will still last at least one season.

The interior is fairly tidy — with a quick vacuuming it would be excellent. The seats are intact and the car has not been smoked in. I thought I could faintly smell that a pet may once have been in the car, but it certainly does not smell of a kennel.

Equipment is generous: R-Design is well equipped as standard, and this example has some very good optional extras. It has Harman Kardon, digital instruments, Winter pack, navigation, etc. And the cherry on top is Volvo On Call — a fuel heater with a timer and phone control.

The car is excellent to drive; nothing negative came to mind during the test drive and it has just been inspected. The suspension does not rattle or creak and the bearings are fine. The engine has all its horses at home and the gearbox shifts as it should.

This is a genuine Finnish car with a complete dealer service history; there are no known scheduled service needs and none are expected in the immediate future — so that side is in top order.

If there is so much good, there must be something bad... Of course a car like this could be sold straight from the sales line, but this car is known to consume some oil. No precise oil-consumption measurement has been done, but since the last service (about 2,500 km) the car required an extra 0.5 litres of oil. That is nothing compared with, for example, Audi tolerances (they allow 1 litre per 1,000 km and that is considered normal). :) This is, however, something for us that is why it is sent to auction.

The issue is not major if you are aware of it and ensure you have oil and remember to top up from time to time.
