A genuine "Ace" Merc that has lived a very colourful life has arrived in the Mussalo auction line‑up. This example is a Mercedes‑Benz S 350 CDI 4Matic in the lovely MANUFAKTUR Dolomite Brown metallic. Under the bonnet sits a 3.0‑litre turbo diesel and a 7‑speed automatic sends power to all four wheels.

The interior is dressed with beautiful brown leather seats with electric adjustments, ventilation and heating. Lighting is provided by Xenon headlights with high‑beam assist. And of course this Ace Merc also has a sunroof.

The car was originally sold new in Italy, then moved to Estonia, Sweden and finally Finland.

The odometer currently shows 247,000 km, but the electronic service book and Carvertical reveal the following plot twist:

• 2014: over 325,000 km

• 2016: reading dropped to 118,000 km

• since then the kilometres have risen normally to the current reading

So, as you might expect from an older premium car with Estonian history... at some point the car appears to have had a small “rejuvenation”. It is therefore very likely the odometer has been tampered with.

But the car itself is pleasantly surprising.

We did about a 30 km test drive and found no complaints. The ride is soft, quiet and exactly that “S‑Mercedes floats on the road” feeling. The interior is very tidy and the car looks and feels much less used than the history suggests. If you didn’t know the odometer story, even I would believe a much lower reading.

The previous owner also spent thousands of euros per year on maintenance (see photos of receipts), so it hasn’t been a "drive it until it dies" horse. In addition to receipts, the previous owner says the air suspension bags and compressor were replaced at some point.

There are downsides too so it’s not all rosy: the engine is slightly oily — but as those familiar with Mercedes V6 diesels know, these OM642 engines sometimes “mark their territory” — and the central display has faded over the years.
