Up for auction: Jaguar XJS 4.0 (1993) – exceptionally well-preserved museum classic / Classic Data 1-

Offered is a rare and representative Jaguar XJS, a prime example of the classic British grand tourer. This car has just been assessed by Classic Data and received a condition rating of 1-, indicating a very high overall state.

The XJS was originally introduced as the successor to the legendary E-Type, and the model’s long development culminated in the facelift versions of the early 1990s. The 1991 update brought a more modern appearance, improved finish and technical upgrades that make these models noticeably more user-friendly, reliable and generally more desirable than earlier variants.

This 1993 car is fitted with the 4.0-litre six-cylinder AJ6 engine, known for its reliability, smooth running and relatively low maintenance. It offers an effortless and pleasant driving experience, suitable for both hobby use and longer trips.

The car was originally sold in Canada and the instrument cluster shows kilometres, temperatures in Fahrenheit and US-spec bumpers that suit the car well. It was imported to Sweden in 1999.

The previous owner, after a long search, bought and imported the car from Sweden to Finland in 2011. He has kept the car meticulously and documented maintenance and repairs very well.

The following work has been carried out on this example;

• Rust protection (see photos of sills, wheel arches and underside. Rust-free example!)

• Exhaust system renewed

• Headlining renewed, respecting originality

• Rear end overhaul and bearings

• Alternator, water pump and battery

• Automatic gearbox controller solenoids and electronic gear selector. Gearbox oil changed

• Valve cover gasket, ignition lead set, rotor and distributor cap

• Regular engine oil changes

Engine oil and filter change and air conditioning service carried out on 17 April 2026.

Classic Data and museum vehicle inspection on 31 March 2026.

Periodic inspection and conversion to museum vehicle on 27 April 2026 (next test due by 29 April 2030).

The car’s appearance is timelessly elegant: long bonnet, low silhouette and classic Jaguar lines make it a recognisable and respected GT model. The red paint highlights the bodywork nicely and adds a sporty touch.

Overall the car is very tidy and well cared for. The Classic Data rating is evident – this is clearly a carefully preserved and valued example.

Museum-registered examples of this quality rarely appear on the market, and the car’s condition together with the Classic Data rating make it an excellent choice also from a value-retention perspective.
