Mercedes-Benz E, 2004, Mustasaari

I don’t have time to sort it because of military service, so I’m passing it on. The MOT has expired. For inspection there are at least: SRS light, the horn, some sort of silencers on the exhaust and the standard charge-air cooler has been replaced with a larger one. The light is probably caused by the steering-wheel wiring harness, which is likely quick and easy to replace. The horn fuse has been disconnected because the horn sounded whenever the wheel was turned. That also seems a fairly easy fix.

There are plenty of features, for example:

• Sunroof

• Retractable towbar

  The colour is Melanite Black. Some rust on the rear arches, tailgate and on some lower door edges — should be visible in the photos.

  The air conditioning doesn’t blow cold; I don’t know the cause. The instrument cluster shows some fault messages, warning about brake-pad wear even though the pads were replaced recently — the sensors are broken.

  
  

  The car is tuned to approx. 280 hp; there is also a gearbox tune so shifts aren’t sluggish. It’s a suitably brisk car. There are no extra cans in the exhaust apart from the DPF, which also appears to be empty.

  
  

  Technically there are no problems and the oils have been changed on schedule — I believe c. 2,000 km since the last change.

  
  

  Injector end sleeves and copper washers were also replaced recently; the underside was treated at the same time.

  Also replaced within the last 10–20,000 km: alternator, Airmatic compressor, left lower control arm, brake pads and all air filters.

  
  

  Fitted with good studded tyres, but the 19” wheels in the last photo are included. On those the right-front tyre is worn through; the rear tyres have been used a little over half a summer. The wheels are otherwise in somewhat poor condition.

  
  

  Interior in acceptable condition: driver’s seat slightly worn at the edge and the door leather slightly worn — visible in the photos. Rear seats in good condition. Boot floor a bit damaged.

  Airmatic works though it shows some fault messages while running. After standing for a week the rear sinks a little, but not dramatically.

  
  

  Collection by trailer, or possibly transferable with a temporary permit.
