Toyota Avensis, 1999, Espoo

For the next owner: a classic Avensis with a 1.8 L petrol engine! For an experienced mechanic this shouldn’t be a big job to pass MOT and the car can be back on the road.
The car failed inspection because of emissions (the exhaust leaks and it fails emissions tests). There were also notes about the studded winter tyres and rust damage on the rear wheel arch.

History:
This is a Finnish car — first registration 4 June 1999 and first registered in Finland on the same day. It has had several owners; the most recent family owned it for 5 years until the last inspection failed. The car comes directly from daily use.

Condition:

All mechanicals run well: the clutch feels good, the brakes respond to pressure, there are no unusual engine noises, the Pioneer stereo plays and the air conditioning hums. The car has been serviced regularly; the previous owner also changed some of the oil themselves and not all work has been recorded in the service book. The service book is shown in the photos.

The car shows signs of use and age. The body has widespread paint damage and small marks here and there as expected. There is a larger rust spot on the driver’s side rear wheel arch, which was noted at inspection. Otherwise it appears largely rust-free from the outside. Inside, the seats are worn and stretched and plastic trim parts show wear. Overall the interior is tidy for a 27‑year‑old car. The windscreen is intact!

Tyres:
The car currently has studded winter tyres with good tread, but some studs have come off (this was also noted in the inspection). Summer tyres are also available — the previous owner described them as “they have rims”. The summer tyres are currently at Hyvinkään Saka and the auction winner will receive them by post.
