The barrel is made of polyethylene and is completely seamless, very easy to keep clean and simple to use.

The complete delivery includes a sturdy, snow-load resistant plastic lid with lifting handle, a large approx. 35 kW marine aluminium stove, a drain tap and drainpipe. The tub is thermally insulated. The base contains 45 cm of Styrox fill so frost will not be a problem for bathers. The outer cladding is domestic heat-treated pine (Lunawood). The tub package is 100% Finnish quality workmanship.

Hyvän Kaupan Paikka’s Classic Hot Tub is manufactured in Finland right down to the smallest particle. We are proud of our production line and have made this Classic Hot Tub model for years using the same reliable process. The tub’s edge panels arrive at the factory as long stock. They are cut to size and made into an element that houses the pre-glued insulating base from Sastamala (made by Jackon) and the maintenance-free PE plastic shell moulded by Pipelif from Oulu. Our line’s experienced tub specialists drill the drain hole in the base, make the heater holes to the side and fit the hoses. Finally the package is carefully tilted on its side to attach the drain pipe.

The Classic Hot Tub is delivered freight-free to its new happy owner, who only needs a water hose, firewood and fire-making tools. The new owner should ensure the tub is installed level so the water does not sit unevenly. Installation instructions are included, but in practise you only secure the heater to a level base with hose clamps, screw the heater’s drain valve closed and off you go — to the bath.

Improved seating comfort in a rotationally moulded shell — also for taller bathers

The maintenance-free, rotationally moulded PE shell comes from near us — Pipelif in Oulu. At their factory the plastic granules are placed into a mould which rotates in an oven for about an hour. After cooling the shell is ready to be moved to Hyvän Kaupan Paikka’s production line.

We have paid special attention to seating comfort. The tub sides are not vertical; a wedge-shaped insulating air gap between the shell and edge panels better supports the bather’s back. Our tub rims are generally higher than other manufacturers’, so taller bathers’ shoulders sink below the steaming water surface and their necks do not get cold. Seat comfort is top-class and legs are not cramped in this tub — despite the height, the bench is not too low.

Super-efficient marine aluminium stove

Hyvän Kaupan Paikka’s marine aluminium stoves are made in Finland. The powerful 35 kW stove handles even brackish or sea water — it tolerates both fresh and marine water. Carefully selected materials make the stove an outstanding product. Marine-grade aluminium conducts heat well, the stove’s front plate is stainless steel and a glass window lets you check the fire without opening the door. The stove package includes two metres of chimney pipe and a rain cap, but if you want extra pipe, a chimney guard or spark arrestor, see the accessories list.

Remember, chlorine is not recommended with marine aluminium, as chlorine can start to oxidise the aluminium. We recommend changing the water frequently and using active oxygen tablets (see accessories). Active oxygen treats the water for about 24 hours, after which the water can be used for watering plants as it contains no added chemicals and is safer for children. Untreated water easily develops a slimy layer on the tub rim, but active oxygen prevents this.

Easy maintenance with little effort

The Classic Hot Tub’s base does not freeze even in ground frost. The 45 cm Styrox insulation in the base prevents cold reaching the tub bottom and helps keep the water warmer. A plastic lid is included to significantly reduce heat loss. A well-heated hot tub can be warmed again the next morning with just one load of firewood.

There is also warmth in the Lunawood heat-treated pine panels that finish the tub’s exterior. You do not need to do anything to the pine panels unless you want to — the surface will weather to an attractive grey over the years. If you prefer to keep the brown tone, apply wood oil annually. The plastic shell is low-maintenance too: without moulded seams dirt has nowhere to collect. Remember to clean the shell surfaces when changing the water. This is easy with normal cleaning agents. The most meticulous users may occasionally disinfect their shell — but remember to dispose of wastewater correctly.
