Up for auction: a Skoda Octavia that has just passed a post-inspection!


The car seems sensible for its age and the engine is surprisingly perky for a 1.6-litre! I have driven the car about 50 kilometres for test driving, some observations can be found under "Faults and other observations"! Skodas are known for their space and this car's boot is genuinely huge for a car of this size!


Just inspected and the fault found on the first inspection has been fixed (the rear brakes had run-out, but they have now been cleaned, bled and the handbrake tightened and the values are now good and even!), so it comes with a clean inspection pass! Proper service history and the timing belt was changed July 2025, so it won't need attention for several years yet! According to the previous owner the battery was replaced in winter. Receipts available for earlier repairs.


Studded winter tyres and summer tyres with good tread, both on Skoda wheels (see pictures)!


The car includes the following equipment; towbar, automatic air conditioning, cruise control, heated seats, trip computer, engine block heater and interior socket, rear window heater, traction control, front electric windows and electrically adjustable mirrors. All features appear to be working (including cruise control and seat heaters), and on a quick test in a roughly 18°C garage the air conditioning seemed to blow cool air.

Defects and other observations

I have driven the car about 50 kilometres on town roads and the motorway — for its age and price it feels quite reasonable!


A few observations;

  • The clutch engages fairly high / is nearing the end of its life. It’s not slipping yet and the gears engage properly, but it will likely need replacing at some point.

  • The remote on the spare key does not work. Probably just a flat battery, but I couldn’t open the key shell to change it... 😅

  • The radio tends to cut out / has trouble finding stations.


The car has not been subjected to a technical inspection by us and may have hidden faults we could not detect. Observations are based on a long test drive conducted by the seller and information received from the previous owner.
