It’s always a pleasure to sell a car that’s familiar from TV. Especially when it’s at least the mother — even the father — of all car shows, namely Latela. This example had plenty of screen time and appeared in almost every episode of season one as Lauri Huttunen’s car. If cars were awarded Venla prizes, this one would undoubtedly have won Best Supporting Role. Above all, the car is still largely in the same condition as 14 years ago — incredible! Hopefully this piece of cultural heritage will be looked after in the future and the car treated like an archaeological find.

Now a short summary of the car. The previous owner carried out a lot of work late last year for the inspection. Replaced parts include the rear wheelarches, fuel tank, front brake discs with pads, rear brake shoes with hardware, the cylinders and the handbrake cables. After the inspection the original DOHC engine was destroyed and replaced with the only unit available from the shelf: a two-litre DOHC with a new FAJS carburettor and a 4‑speed gearbox. The steering rack was changed to a non‑power-assisted unit. There is documentation (‘kattipaperit’) — meaning for the next MOT you will need to reinstate the DOHC setup with its associated parts and paperwork. It is probably wisest to look for a very rotten or even crashed donor car to obtain these parts complete. MOT valid until 16 November 2026 and the car is road‑legal and driveable right now.

Then the equipment/appearance. The car has genuine RS bumpers and skirts and a proper limited‑slip differential. Twin headlights and the grille inserts on the bonnet give a sense of power and the exhaust note is masculine. Included are new blue mudflaps for all corners (exactly the same style that were fitted originally). The sunroof is present but the winding handle spindle is broken. The stereo is a Sony Bluetooth/USB unit. It rides on good studded tyres mounted on attractive white race‑style alloy wheels. Also included are worn friction (non‑studded) tyres loose, if you want to fit them to these rims for summer.

Faults and shortcomings: First, to repeat, it currently has carburettor technology fitted. The carburettor choke is not working. The body has issues, which are shown in the photographs attached to the listing. The rear arches/quarters were spot‑painted by the previous owner after the arch replacements and there are other patches too. Overall the car looks tidy and presentable and could be restored to excellent condition with partial repainting. The speedometer cable is broken, so the speedometer does not register and the true mileage is unknown. The tachometer does not work due to the engine swap. I haven’t tried locking the doors, as these Sierras usually have quirks and the doors can jam in the rear lock. The spoiler’s centre brake‑light lens is missing and there are likely other issues I haven’t thought of. The photos give a good indication of the vehicle’s condition.
