Ion production requires an ioniser component inside the unit. The ozone plates do not produce ions.

ABOUT IONISATION:
Negative ions produced into indoor air cause light, positively charged particles to attach and form heavier particles that quickly fall out of the breathing zone.

Negative ionisation also breaks down volatile organic compounds in the air that are harmful when inhaled. Toxic compounds produced by some microbes — microbial toxins — pose a major health risk if they reach the lungs and bloodstream. Heavy microbial toxins that do not mix into the air cause harm mainly via spores that carry those toxins.

The effectiveness of ozone (O3) and negative ionisation relies on achieving high concentrations.

When a unit produces both ozone and negative ions, performance is 5–10 times better than ozone alone and high concentrations remove spores and odours effectively from porous materials such as upholstery and bedding.

Fine particles in indoor air pose a serious health risk in homes and workplaces.

Harmful fine particles can reach the deep lungs (alveoli) and the bloodstream and cause serious health problems in addition to asthma and allergies.

    Ozonation and negative ionisation are particularly effective in an over-pressurised building.

    Ozone and negative ionisation together form compounds that can effectively remove microbial spores and various odours such as sewer gases, smoke smells, bacterial and mould toxins, and stubborn cooking and tobacco odours.

    Ozone and negative ionisation also remove fine particles and MVOC (microbial volatile organic compounds) and VOCs (volatile organic compounds) from the air.

    Ozonation and negative ionisation create a pleasant, easy-to-breathe indoor air, which is healthy for people to occupy.

    Together they produce very clean indoor air suitable also for workspaces.

Ozonation of indoor air cannot be performed while people are present, since ozone is produced massively to destroy microbial spores.
