Positives:

  • Rear axle lock! A rare feature on these

  • New camshaft and lifters (assembled with quality parts such as Febi, Schaeffler etc.)

  • New injector seals

  • Body generally fairly tidy apart from the left rear door, tailgate handle and right rear wing. These can be painted to match.

  • Good condition all-terrain tyres — usable year-round (snowflake marking / 3PMSF)

  • Most reliable drivetrain/technology fitted to the Touareg

  • Gearbox oil and filter recently changed

  • Engine oil and filter changed

  • Oils changed in the front differential and transfer box

  • Air suspension does not drop

  • Suspension otherwise firm, no rattles

  • Clean CarVertical report


Please note:

  • After the camshaft replacement the engine produces a ticking noise in time with the camshaft when running. Sometimes it runs without extra noise. Most likely the lifters for cylinder 5, which arrived in a separate package, are faulty (may not hold pressure). The fault can be inspected before bidding; seller is not 100% sure.

  • Camshaft fault is common at this mileage. New parts have already been fitted costing nearly €1,000. Engine code BAC/BPE — you can find more information with this. Same engine as the Transporter T5 2.5 TDI.

  • Because of this the car has been standing outside for a couple of months, so other issues may have appeared.

  • The tailgate opens with the button but does not close — possibly just a faulty switch?
