Ruska tabletop with a lively surface

The rustic and durable Ruska tabletop is made from three wide boards. The surface is not flat; the wood grain and pattern are beautifully visible. The surface has been mechanically brushed, giving it a lovely rustic look. Brushing removes the softer parts of the wood, such as resin and pith areas, from the board surface. The underside of the top has pre-drilled screw holes (12 per end), compatible with Ruska table legs. There are central fixing holes for the support battens, which are supplied with the table legs.

Only the tabletop boards are included; fixing screws and other fittings are not included.

The top is first stained with a water-resistant water‑based stain. After that the surface is treated three times with a water‑based acrylic lacquer. Both treatments are intended for outdoor furniture but are also suitable for indoor use.

The boards are knotty pine; natural cracks, knot holes and resin or pith channels are allowed. Wood movement may cause shape changes and cracks. Small hairline cracks are typical for pine tops and do not weaken the top or affect its lifespan or durability. Variations in resin content, pith and wood strength or composition may cause colour and pattern differences in the tabletop — this is a natural characteristic of wooden furniture. Colour change over time is also a natural feature of wood furniture.

• Care / washing instructions: Wipe fresh stains and spills from the top daily with a clean cloth. Damp or wet wipe with a neutral detergent (e.g. diluted dishwashing liquid). Dry the surface thoroughly. The top does not withstand chemicals or hot items—they will damage the finish and may leave marks. If necessary, re‑treat with a water‑based lacquer suitable for outdoor use. Sand previously lacquered surfaces to bare wood (remove sanding dust thoroughly) or check adhesion of a new lacquer with a test rub on a lightly sanded area. Wood oil is only suitable if the lacquer has been removed.
