The Pacer’s design is downright revolutionary. There is so much glass area that even the Soviet intelligence service could have carried out surveillance from the passenger compartment. Privacy is a bourgeois illusion, and in this car everyone is equal – everyone’s activities are visible from outside.

Comfort equipment is also up to standard. Travelling in the Pacer is like sitting in a parliamentary plenary session: there is space, plenty of talk, and occasional wonder at why everything takes so long.

FUEL ECONOMY – A MIRROR OF THE NATIONAL ECONOMY

Consumption is generous in the American fashion. Petrol is not measured in petty litres, but in social necessity.

Filling up is like handling the national budget: first it is promised that this will take us a long way, then the money runs out halfway through.

Electric car drivers can continue their own climate efforts. This car was made in an era when carbon dioxide emissions were mainly an industrial competitive advantage and the Ministry of the Environment would have been classified as a conspiracy.

The smoke signals from the Pacer’s exhaust are enough to trigger an extra break at the climate conference and make Greta Thunberg hang up her mittens.

SAFETY AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

The Pacer is a safe choice. Its width ensures that nobody can pull alongside without separate negotiations. Overtaking is possible, but requires at least bilateral agreements and AAY approval.
