Boat

• Previously used for work for a few seasons = countless dents and scratches; several small holes in the bottom, patched when leaks were discovered

• Stored outdoors for around 5 years – the floor plywood, especially where the driver’s feet go, is worn out; upholstery is coming apart and the paintwork has suffered to varying degrees

• Steering is stiff but turns, stopping at the position shown in the last picture – no recollection whether it turned further before being stored

• At least a fire extinguisher and horn are missing from the equipment

• Electrical work is needed: lights do not work and there appears to be a short to the hull somewhere. Bilge pump looks fairly new and runs, but is not connected to the boat’s electrical system. A new battery is included.

• No type plate observed; registration details state 5 people and an unladen weight of 300 kg

Engine

• Apparently the high-pressure fuel pump has failed: it displays “fuel pump” and requires around 10 seconds of cranking to run for around 5 seconds before stopping again = perhaps running on fuel from the mechanical lift pump only? Aftermarket high-pressure pumps available from around €40 when ordered internationally.

• There was water in the gear oil? The reason is currently a bit of a mystery; I did not notice any impact marks.

• No record of the timing belt being replaced = at least its age limit has been reached, even if it has not accumulated many hours

• At least with that amount of running, it did not charge or produce cooling-water tell-tale flow?

• Trim reservoir looks rather rough – not leaking yet, at least

• Gauge glass is cracked; apparently it has remained dry so far

• Could not find the type-plate sticker; has it come off?
