Volkswagen Crafter 35 2.5 TDI Shiftmatic – plenty of possibilities in one package!

Here is a Crafter that has led an interesting life. On the one hand, it has served as a work vehicle; on the other, it has started being converted towards a motorhome. The project was left unfinished, giving the next owner the opportunity to decide where the story continues.

The vehicle has been in daily use and appears technically operational. The gearbox works properly, and no major drama has been observed in the drivetrain. This is therefore not a project awaiting towing, but a vehicle that still does the work it was designed for.

It comes with a good range of equipment and useful features:

There is some rust here and there on the body, as is often the case with a commercial vehicle of this age. An old logo painted on the side also reflects the vehicle's history. It will not come off with a pressure washer alone, but it is unlikely to be an insurmountable obstacle for a more dedicated enthusiast.

The removed glass from the cargo compartment wall is included with the vehicle. It also has a Biltema-style reversing camera, currently disconnected. Its operation cannot be confirmed.

The service history can be found in the service book, and the vehicle has also been serviced after the last entries, although not all work carried out has been recorded in the book. The timing belt was replaced at 263,000 km, and the last recorded service was carried out at 273,000 km.

This Crafter may not win any beauty contests and the motorhome is not yet finished, but it starts in the morning, moves forward and gets the job done. It is a bit like an old tradesman: the mileage shows in its appearance, but the working day still starts every morning. 🚐🔨😄
