Ford S-Max, 2010, Siikainen

S-MAX in a fine Morello / Bordeaux Metallic colour. I simply do not have the time, skills or money to repair it, so it has to go. The car is roadworthy and drives very smoothly without juddering or warning lights, but nevertheless requires work:

• One injector leaks fuel and exhaust gas into the engine bay.

• The clutch also appears to be due for replacement, as reverse sometimes engages with difficulty.

• The diesel particulate filter regenerates frequently, although this may of course be caused by the injector.

• The tailgate trim with the handle is rather poorly attached, and the microswitch does not work either. It opens with the key and by lifting from the edge of the tailgate.

• One rear light cluster is cracked at the top and collects moisture.

• The LEDs in both boot lights flicker, more or less depending on the day.

• The driver's mirror approach light also flickers, and sometimes the passenger-side mirror does not fold out when the central locking is unlocked, although it can be opened using the button.

• The CD player will not eject the disc.

• The handbrake does not hold properly.

  
  

The paintwork is mostly quite good, although there is some early rust, scratching and scuffing. MOT due by 9 November 2026.

Good points include the handling, relatively clean and intact interior, 7 seats + three ISOFIX mounts, working cruise control, air conditioning and remote-controlled auxiliary heater with timer. Fitted with Hakkapeliitta R5 friction tyres with 6 mm tread (manufactured in 2022).

Serviced during my ownership (from 12/25 onwards):

12/25, 335,290 km. Thermostat, coolant, auxiliary belt and tensioner.

1/26, 336,765 km. Four-wheel alignment.

4/26, 341,450 km. Passenger-side front wheel bearing, front brake pads and slider pins.

An oil change is becoming due.
