Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV 2015 – in good condition and working

The car is in good running condition and everything currently works normally. There are no warning lights on the dashboard.

The car has been in my wife's use for under a year, mainly for taking the children to and from school. As our family grew, we needed a 7-seat car, so this one became surplus and is now for sale.

Inspection

The inspection was passed on 4.8.2026, so it is valid for a long time.

At the first inspection, the reasons for rejection were:

• play in the front lower control arm ball joint

• crack in the windscreen

The ball joint was replaced and the windscreen renewed, after which the car passed inspection.

Service

The car has been serviced regularly once a year from the beginning, only at an authorised dealer. A full service book is included in the attachments. The annual service was carried out on 3.9.2026. Since then the car has been driven under 200 km, so there are about 18 800 km left until the next annual service.

Battery capacity

The car still has the original traction battery, which is now over 10 years old. The battery capacity is currently around 63 %.

With a full charge, the car currently achieves about 30 km on electric power, of which about 23 km has been motorway driving at 80 km/h. In this kind of driving the battery is depleted much faster. In city driving, the electric range is longer.

Without charging the battery, the average consumption has been about 7.7 l/100 km.

Last winter the car gave a warning twice in very cold weather, estimated at below -25 °C. A yellow engine warning light and a battery warning light came on in the dashboard. However, the car did not stop or lose functionality, but continued to operate normally. The warnings disappeared later the same day and have not returned since.

The matter was checked with a workshop, where it was assessed that the battery is no longer in like-new condition, but that there was no immediate need to replace it. Since then the car has worked normally without warnings.

If there are very severe frosts again next winter, replacing the battery may nevertheless be a sensible future measure.

Tyres

The summer tyres still have plenty of tread left. The winter tyres are almost like new. Both sets come on clean and undamaged alloy wheels.

Brakes

At the most recent service it was noted that the brake pads should be replaced after a few thousand kilometres. They still had some life left, so they were not changed during the service. Their replacement may therefore be due at the next service.

Summary

Aside from these two matters – the battery and the brake pads that may need replacing soon – I have not noticed anything else with the car that requires special attention at the moment.

Despite its age, this is a working and usable Outlander PHEV. Taking into account the car's age and the current condition of the battery, I think it is wise to budget a few hundred euros for near-term maintenance. After that, the car can still have many years of use ahead of it.
