A torque wrench is a precise measuring tool for setting tightening torque. It is designed for tightening threaded joints so that the clamping force is accurately known and matched to the material used and the strength of the bolt and nut. A torque wrench is especially suitable for vehicle maintenance and other situations where the manufacturer has specified the required tightening torque precisely.

The wrench works with a mechanical click mechanism that gives a “click” sound when the set torque is reached. The torque scale is located in the handle, and adjustment is made by turning the handle. Once the desired torque is set, the wrench is locked with the safety catch at the end of the handle.
