BMW that has seen little use. I bought the car in autumn 2002 from AVK after a front-end collision. At that time it had been driven 88,000 km. The car was straightened to its proper dimensions on an Autorobot frame bench and the necessary parts were replaced. At the same time I converted it from a carburettor to newer fuel injection equipment and added power steering. The car was also repainted completely, as it had previously had a minor rear-end impact and the paintwork was not very good.


The car was in daily use for about eight years, during which it covered a little over 100,000 km. The odometer, including speedometer, stopped working at 137,000 km. So the total mileage is approx. 200,000 km. As the driving was mainly commuting, the estimate is fairly reliable.


The car currently has studless winter tyres fitted. The summer tyres are on BMW original rims. They still have plenty of tread, but age is starting to tell.


Due to long periods of standing, noise has started to come from the final drive. A few bubbles have appeared in the paintwork. The previous owner had broken the synchroniser for first gear. It can still be used, however.


I have now fitted new rear brake shoes, a new water pump and a new viscous fan clutch.


Last week’s inspection had no remarks.
