Defects and other observations

Repairs needed: timing belt + water pump, camshaft seals, VVT pulley, regulator, and some thermostat, as the fan keeps running even after a short drive. Wheel alignment (the 1-year-old summer tyres are worn). Fault code list result: engine control 4 faults, steering column switch group 4 faults, info display 1 fault, instruments/cluster 2 faults. Fault memory result: intake camshaft adjustment - exceeds specified range, coolant thermostat - stuck closed, coolant temperature sensor - exceeds specified range, vehicle remote key - battery is weak, steering wheel left button group - break in scroll selector, info display - data transfer with steering column switch group - incorrect communication, instrument cluster - data transfer with steering column switch group - incorrect communication, coolant temperature sensor - malfunction.


Coolant has been changed; according to the service shop, oil had got into the coolant. This points to a possible head gasket fault. Oil has leaked from the camshaft seals onto the timing belt, which is why it must be replaced. The oil warning light came on then (in winter), but is not on at the moment. The car starts with jump leads because the battery is weak. (The car has been standing in a car park all summer.)
