Liquidation lot: Hardwood Iroko “African Teak” solid plank, Kirkkonummi

This hardwood lot comes from a private individual’s own collection, bought from a carpenter over 10 years ago. In other words, a professional once reserved these planks from a large batch we imported. He has kept them properly stacked in our timber store all these years, so the planks are exceptionally straight for Iroko. He has now decided to part with his treasures and is auctioning the planks through us.

Plank size varies: (thickness approx. 40-50 mm / width approx. 230 - 275 mm / length approx. 1.94 - 2.07 m)

Iroko: 9 planks / approx. 0.20 m³ / approx. 140 kg

Iroko is an African premium hardwood generally considered the closest to teak. As naturally grown teak is no longer widely available in a sustainable way, many superyacht owners have chosen Iroko instead of teak for deck material. Iroko grown slowly in nature is therefore even regarded as a higher-quality boat decking material than plantation-grown teak.

The timber lot originally comes from Sierra Leone and arrived in Finland in a container in 06/2013. The wood includes the necessary sustainability documentation, as well as customs and other official documents. The timber has dried for over 13 years, stored properly in stacks. It is guaranteed cabinetmaker-dry material. There is some knotting and “fat” in the hardwood, meaning the lighter wood found along the edges of the planks. The white paint shown in the photos has been used to help prevent end splits during the drying process.

The timber is packed on an euro pallet and can be loaded onto the transport company chosen by the buyer. Freight costs are borne by the buyer.
