Some hero started building a chopper and modified the frame to give it a larger front rake. The frame has not been cut all the way through; it has been left attached from underneath and cut and bent from above. A skilled metalworker can still make a good bike out of it, quite easily too :) There is something else to say about the frame as well; at least the brake pedal pin was bent.


Nothing is known about the condition of the engine. The Monkey came as part of a lot.


The good thing is that the base is a numbered red-black 1982 model and it has the matching numbers engine fitted (checked by Brandt). This colour combination is especially desirable because it is Monkey’s only so-called “chrome delete” model, with no shiny chrome parts. Only 1,142 units of this model were imported to Finland, which is very little on a global scale. In Japan, the most sought-after “extremely rare” models have been made in at least 3,000 units.


Included are the parts that came with the moped, as shown in the photos; some are in poor condition. Everything is sold as scrap.


The last picture is an example taken from Mobilisti magazine showing what this beautiful red-black Monkey looks like when restored in spring. It is a valued cultural act to restore such a rarity with its original engine back to road use.
