Defects and other observations

Last week, on the way to a business trip, the car started emitting light/white smoke in the exhaust on the motorway. The smoking lasted about 10 seconds and stopped immediately when I lifted off the accelerator. I exited at the next interchange and checked the situation. After that, I drove the car home calmly on smaller roads for about 6 km. The car has not been started since.


Coolant has been found to have dropped below the minimum level. The engine temperature did not rise above normal. The car has not been inspected by a professional, so there is no definite diagnosis for the smoking. However, phone quotes for repairs exceeded my willingness to repair the car, so I am selling it in its current condition for repair.


The latest service was carried out at about 385,000 km.


The car has failed inspection twice:

  • In the spring, it failed due to the rear seatbelt being frayed → the seatbelt has been replaced.

    • In addition, there was an advisory for dim headlights → the headlight lenses were restored this summer.

  • Previously, it failed due to broken front springs → the springs have been replaced.


Over 10 years, the car has once broken down on the road. At that time, the left driveshaft broke.


Other known faults:

  • The engine smoke and reduced coolant mentioned at the start of the advert.

  • First gear goes in a little awkwardly. However, the gear engages easily via second gear.
