Here’s a Sorento for DIY mechanics or even a repair shop person, representing the last tough vintage!

• The body is in very good condition considering its age and mileage; there’s hardly any rust visible on the exterior panels. With a thorough wash and polish it could look really great. Inside, it has the usual used-car cleaning to do, but it can be tidied up; there is some minor wear on the driver’s seat edge, otherwise the interior is intact.

  
  

• Equipment includes, among other things: automatic climate control, cruise control, tow hitch, 4x electric windows, remote central locking, engine heater + interior socket, ABS, airbags, etc.! Everything seems to work, and it also has a Webasto heater, but that may be timer-controlled as I couldn’t find the control unit for it.

• Underneath are decent Hankook Dynapro tyres with over +5 mm tread on all, and for winter there are Hankook studded tyres with over +7.5 mm tread on all, with the studs stored separately; those are on aluminium rims too.

• The car has an excellent service history; oil has been changed regularly in the engine, gearbox and other drivetrain components, the service book has been photographed, and there is also a big stack of service receipts. Inspected on 11/08/2026 with no remarks.

• The gearbox and four-wheel drive work, there are no unwanted noises and the gears change smoothly; the four-wheel drive and drive mode selection work as they should.

• The car’s history has been known to us for a long time; the body or frame has not needed welding or any rust repairs, so it is definitely still in strong shape for a long time!

• Then the reason this is being sold at auction: there is an extra noise coming from the engine. We did not investigate it further when we took it in as a trade-in in this condition; after running it a bit and tapping around, the noise seems to come from the timing end. The engine runs on all cylinders and smoothly, but the noise is unpleasant. Fluids and oil are at the correct levels and clean, no warning lights are on, and it can be test-run and driven onto a trailer, but we do not recommend any more driving to avoid additional damage. So this could be solved with a timing chain repair, or it might not—be brave and find out?!?!
