Under the bonnet thunders the legendary 4.5-litre V8 engine, producing as much as 320 horsepower and delivering a soundscape that modern small engines can only envy.
The same engine family was used in Nissan luxury flagship cars, as well as in racing in the Super GT series.

This 4.5-litre V8 (VK45DE) is the same reliable engine Nissan/Infiniti used in several of its flagship models.
(All-aluminium DOHC V8 engine / 32 valves & variable valve timing (CVTCS).)
The engine is known for its very durable block and forged connecting rods.
It is naturally aspirated, so it responds to the throttle without delay. The torque delivery is very smooth, and power rises linearly with revs.
The Infiniti FX is based on Nissan’s Front Midship (FM) platform structure, so it shares the same base platform as the Nissan 350Z.

Power is sent through a 5-speed automatic gearbox and Nissan’s ATTESA E-TS all-wheel-drive system, which is slightly rear-biased and sends power to the front when it starts to slip.
And this is not just any basic SUV AWD system, but one developed directly from the Nissan GT-R (R32–R34) sports cars!

Long before the BMW X6 or Mercedes GLE Coupe were even on the drawing board, Infiniti created the FX series in 2003. Its low roofline, long bonnet and aggressive styling defined an entirely new class of car.
Nissan’s designers drew inspiration from a hunting cheetah for the car’s profile. The long nose and rear-set cabin give it a ready-to-pounce look.
Most FX models that ended up in Europe were V6-powered FX35 versions. This genuine V8-powered FX45 is a much rarer and more desirable choice.
Although the car was designed for the North American market, all first-generation FX models were built at Nissan’s respected Tochigi factory in Japan.
