BMW 535D E60 M-Sport with manual gearbox, 2005, Mäntsälä

For sale as a project car to the next determined driver. This is not a standard BMW but a heavily modified special that requires regular attention and care.

Powerful engine rebuilt, uniquely converted from automatic to a proper manual gearbox with a solid clutch - very fun to drive. Done relatively properly.

Engine modified, reported to include:

• Ported cylinder head

• Stiffer valve springs

• Modified turbochargers

• Larger injectors

• R90 high-pressure pump

• All emissions equipment removed

.. I have no papers or documentation for these modifications.

Reported output approximately 337 kW / 850 Nm (no dyno sheets and no guarantees). It’s very quick, so the figures aren’t implausible.

Drivetrain

• 53DZ manual gearbox sourced from a 530D

• 4‑puck unsprung sintered clutch

• 240 mm steel flywheel

There’s surely more not listed. I didn’t build it myself so I can’t tell the whole story. I have almost no receipts to show. Also not a full dealer service book.

It seems to run fine, is reasonably pleasant to drive and has massive power. Surprisingly little black smoke, etc.

The buyer must know what they’re getting into, understand what running such a car involves and accept likely future repair needs. As it stands it is not roadworthy and will not pass inspection(!!)

A heavily tuned car that has certainly been pushed hard over its life. No acute repairs known at present. However, components including the engine could fail at any time.

When you have permission at home, sufficient funds, repair skills and the nerve to buy this, think it through and only bid what you’re prepared to pay.

I mainly use the household’s other cars as this one is a bit too raw for everyday driving, so it’s been used too little and could move on to the next enthusiastic owner.

No test drives without serious intent, contact only if you intend to buy 😊

Again, this is a special car to be treated as a hobby. If the technical descriptions sound like Greek, at least make sure your finances are in order if you’re still interested.

The car is in Mäntsälä; please don’t come for a test drive just for fun. The car is currently taken off the road but can be put back into use if a sale goes ahead.
