Heat treatment of the wood greatly improves its decay resistance and makes it dimensionally stable, so decking boards, fences and screens retain their original, straight shape.

Untreated, it will silver beautifully under UV light unless treated with an oil or similar product containing UV protection pigment. Only heat and steam are used in its production, so it is entirely non-toxic.
