Just serviced E 300 Diesel mild-hybrid from under a van. WITHOUT UREA SYSTEM, so none of the newer model's drawbacks and costly expenses. Prices for these seem to start over €10,000...

Powerful: 204 hp (≈150 kW) + 30 hp (≈22 kW) electric, total 750 Nm torque. Economical to drive — you need to drive briskly to get consumption to reach 5 L/100 km. No costly issues of plug-in hybrids. Here the electric motor assists and reduces consumption, helping on starts and accelerations.

Fitted with good 245/45 17" summer tyres with 5–6 mm tread.

Winter tyres also in good condition: 16" with 6–7 mm tread on aluminium wheels and with alternative bolts. A powerful additional front light helps in the dark autumn. LED bulbs fitted in the headlights.

Everything works faultlessly. The engine runs smoothly, gears change very smoothly, it runs like a train and is not pulling or unsettled in motion. No unusual noises and no leaks. The air conditioning blows cold immediately and is otherwise very effective multi-zone climate control (two settings in front and one at the rear). The interior is very tidy for its age; only a small scratch on the side of the driver's seat — these seats often tear but this one does not have that problem!

Excellent to drive, quiet and when needed also powerful. Accelerates 0–100 km/h in about 7 s and really doesn't need coaxing when overtaking. The difference to a normal diesel is significant thanks to the electric assist. In town it runs on electric for roughly half of the driving time, which can make consumption laughably low.

Because there is of course no perfect car, the grille chrome has slight blistering and a little paint has come off in front of the left rear wheel — not rusted, just sand over time has opened the edge. Not a major job to repair.
