Known faults and damage

The engine starts, but the vehicle does not move under its own power. The exact cause has not been determined, and the engine, clutch or drivetrain have not been opened.

The vehicle was at a repair shop due to the fault when another vehicle struck its left front corner. The front bumper is damaged and scratched as shown in the photos.

The body and interior show wear consistent with age and mileage. The function of other technical components and equipment has not been comprehensively tested after the fault.

INSPECTION REPORT ON ENGINE FUNCTION

Scope of inspection

The inspection was carried out by sensory assessment and with diagnostic equipment. The engine or its parts were not dismantled, so any internal engine damage or the exact cause has not been confirmed.

1. Observations from exhaust

With the engine running, the exhaust emits a large amount of strongly odoured grey smoke. Under acceleration the smoke becomes black.

Grey smoke can be related to oil or coolant entering the combustion chamber. Black smoke may indicate excessive fuel, insufficient air supply or incomplete combustion. However, the smoke colour alone cannot definitively determine the fault.

2. Observations from diagnostics

No significant fault codes were found that by themselves would explain the engine symptoms.

Injector correction values showed the following deviations:

• Cylinder 1: –3.9

• Cylinder 2: +4.8

• Specified guideline range: ±3

Correction values for cylinders 1 and 2 are therefore outside the guideline range. The values indicate an imbalance between cylinders, but cannot alone identify the exact cause.

3. Observation from engine oil

Before a short test run the engine oil level was below the minimum on the dipstick. One litre of oil was added before the test run.

Low oil level can be due to oil consumption, an external leak or previously insufficient oil. The amount or cause of any consumption or leak has not been investigated.

Conclusion

The observations suggest a fault in the engine, fuel supply or another system affecting engine operation. A possible engine failure has not been confirmed by dismantling, and the exact extent of the fault or repair costs are unknown. The vehicle is sold for repair with the information given in this report.
