Defects and other observations

OBSERVED DEFECTS:

During a short test drive we made the following observations:


- drivable, but consumes coolant

- Fault codes:

P0115 22 Engine coolant temperature, overheat (112,410 km) + P0527 02 Cooling fan internal fault + P0692 13 Cooling fan relay circuit + P0428 00 Exhaust gas temperature before pre-catalyst, voltage too high

Workshop diagnosis:

Some fault codes are recent; have any connectors been disconnected?

The expansion (coolant) tank was empty; 2.5 L of water had to be added.

The water pump is now operating.

Cooling fan tested, now working.

Cooling system pressure-tested; leak found at the heater core connector.

The hose to the Webasto was partially repaired earlier; the section from the thermostat has softened due to a high-pressure fuel pump leak. The pump/hoses are sweating fuel.

According to the fault code, the engine overheated for the first time over 400 km ago. Coolant was splashed in the engine bay.

It builds pressure and exhaust gases into the expansion tank; there is some oil in the coolant. A dye test was done on the cooling system—the dye changed from blue to green and bubbled. Exhaust gases were detected in the cooling system; the cylinder head gasket is leaking.
