The car is mechanically very sound and in working order.

The engine and automatic gearbox run well, the drives feel intact and the car offers first-class ride quality.

Powered by the mighty 2.9 24V inline-six (B6304). The B6304 is one of Volvo's last classic inline-sixes – very smooth-running, pleasant and much admired by many enthusiasts. It is one of the 960’s biggest assets.

Visually the car presents very impressively, though there is age-related wear and some touch-up paint on the body (see pictures).

The interior is in great condition for its age; the seats are very good and overall the cabin is neat, clean and intact.

Electrical functions work.

The driving experience is unlike many cars – sitting in it feels like sitting in a king’s chair 🫡. There is plenty of power to move the car smoothly and strongly, and rear-wheel drive adds its own character. The rear end is in good condition and there is no unusual whine.

The car has been properly serviced up to 2015, after which its use decreased and it has stood unused for a few years.

Timing belt, oil and filter changed — noted as '-26' in the records; done about 100 km ago.

The car is in original condition! Easy to register as a historic vehicle; it can be inspected for museum registration in 2027.

The car runs and has been inspected; it is no longer new and shows signs of use, but there are practically no dents or rust. The car is not a must-sell; if the price remains low I may register it as a museum vehicle next year, which would likely increase its value.
