Ion production requires an ioniser component inside the unit. The ozone plates do not produce ions.

ABOUT IONISATION:
Negative ions produced into indoor air cause light, positively charged airborne particles to clump together, forming larger, heavier particles that settle quickly out of the breathing zone.

Negative ionisation also breaks down volatile organic compounds in the air that are harmful when inhaled. Toxic compounds produced by many microbes — microbial toxins dispersed as aerosol — cause significant health damage when they reach lungs and the bloodstream. Heavy microbial toxins not mixed into air cause harm mainly via spores, which are the producers of these dangerous toxins.

The effectiveness of ozone (O3) and negative ionisation relies on high concentrations.

When a unit produces negative ions in addition to ozone, the performance can be 5–10 times better than ozone alone, and high concentrations remove spores and odours effectively even from porous materials such as upholstery and bedding.

Small particles in indoor air pose a serious health risk in homes and workplaces.

Harmful fine particles travel into the lower lungs (alveoli) with inhaled air and then into the bloodstream, causing serious health problems in addition to asthma and allergy.

    Ozonation and negative ionisation work especially effectively in an over-pressurised building.

    Ozone together with negative ionisation produces compounds that effectively remove microbial spores and various odours, for example sewer gases, smoke odours, bacterial and mould toxin odours, and persistent cooking and tobacco smells.

    Ozone and negative ionisation also remove fine particles and MVOC and VOC compounds from the air.

    Ozonation and negative ionisation provide pleasant, easy-to-breathe indoor air where people feel comfortable.

Indoor ozonation cannot be carried out while people are present because ozone is produced massively to destroy microbial spores. The combined effect of high ozone concentration and negative ionisation achieves good cleaning results even in porous materials. After indoor cleaning the treated area is ventilated before occupants return.
