Evella acoustic interior panels are a quick and easy way to create a modern, architectural look. Suited to contemporary Scandinavian interiors, the panels form a seamless slatted wall surface and noticeably improve room acoustics.

The panel backing felt is 100% recycled PET polyester fibre, specially developed to reduce noise and remove room reverberation. MDF slats fixed to the backing are coated with real wood veneer, giving the panel a natural, attractive finish. Installation can be done with the supplied screws or with adhesive purchased separately.

How it works
The acoustic slatted panel reduces sound in two ways:

• The felt acts as an absorbing material, which reduces sound

• The slats and their gaps diffuse sound by diffraction, scattering it in different directions

Although a slatted panel does not absorb sound as effectively as a traditional acoustic absorber, it often creates a more balanced and natural acoustic, especially in living spaces. The difference can be noticed in clearer speech and reduced echo from sharp noises.

Natural sound environment
The panel’s natural effect comes from some sound reflecting off the slats and being scattered more softly. This shortens reverberation and makes the room less echoey, improving comfort for living and working. In speech, listeners need to process less reverberant sound, which can aid understanding, for example with hearing impairment.

Tip! You can easily test room reverberation by clapping your hands once at different points in the room. In a very echoey room you will hear how long the reverberation continues.

Installation
The panels are easiest to screw straight onto battens. For concrete walls a horizontal batten layout is recommended. The included black drywall screws blend into the felt, and extra screws are readily available from hardware stores.

If you want to extend the absorption to slightly lower frequencies – for example for music listening – you can:

• Install the panel off the wall onto battens so sound does not reflect immediately after passing through the felt and instead reflects at multiple interfaces

• Add mineral wool between the battens to enhance absorption. The wool or additional acoustic panel used can even be second-hand and worn on the surface as it will be hidden

The panel can also be installed directly over partitionWall insulation without plasterboard, but this will mainly affect the room’s internal acoustics. A downside is that sound can transfer more easily to the adjacent room and the panel will not act as effective sound insulation as when plasterboard is missing.

Practicality
Evella panels provide an easy way to finish large surfaces without demolition or plastering work. They are suitable for walls and ceilings and can be installed quickly.
