Could this Mondeo qualify for museum plates in 2028? A very tidy Mondeo — you don't often see them in this condition. Well cared for and serviced over the years. Last MOT passed on 25 February 2026, but there were repair recommendations for the front and rear anti-roll bar attachments. These have been fixed, so there are no current remarks.

The car has been kept largely in original condition. Remove the tinted windows and the LED auxiliary light bar and you're quite close to original. The original air filter housing has been refitted in place of a free-flow unit. The rear bumper was previously replaced due to damage and would need painting if you want a completely original finish. The windscreen is intact and the paint is in good condition apart from a few small chips. As noted, there is no rust, which is rare for these.

Photos were taken immediately after washing — the car has not been waxed nor have the interior surfaces been treated. Au naturel, as the chef would say. Interior is intact; the only downside is a slightly frayed handbrake gaiter, otherwise everything's sound. There is a mobile phone unit and the original Ford 5000 stereo.

The Mondeo has covered miles, but thanks to a good service history the mileage does not affect drivability. Very comfortable to drive — the 1.6 Zetec isn't a powerhouse, but it keeps up easily in normal traffic. Controls work as they should and the gears slot smoothly in classic Ford fashion.

Two sets of tyres in OK condition, both on alloy wheels. The summer tyres include two that are very good and two slightly older ones that still have enough tread for at least next summer. A great Mondeo for a summer car or for careful storage ahead of a future museum inspection!

Defects and other observations

Some very small stone chips, the sort you see on cars only a couple of years old. The left front speaker does not work; I suspect a wiring fault as newer speaker elements have been fitted in place of the originals. The rear footwell is missing an ashtray; otherwise the interior is pretty much perfect.
