Designed by Poul Henningsen, the PH 5 is a classic of Danish design, famed for its excellent glare-free light distribution.

The lamp’s design is based on a layered shade system that provides good direct downward light. Some light is also directed to the sides and upwards, so the lamp illuminates itself as well. The indirect light it gives to the surroundings is pleasant and atmospheric.

The PH 5 is intended to be hung low over a table so it does not interrupt sightlines between people seated around the table. The indirect light it provides is pleasant and atmospheric.
