The barrel is made from polyethylene (PE) and is completely seamless, very easy to keep clean and simple to use.

The complete delivery includes a sturdy snow-load resistant plastic lid with lifting handle, a large approx. 35 kW marine-grade aluminium stove, a drain tap and drain pipe. The tub is insulated. The base contains a 45 cm Styrox filler, so this tub will not freeze and cause problems for bathers. The outer shell is Finnish heat-treated pine (Lunawood). The tub kit is 100% Finnish quality workmanship.

Hyvän Kaupan Paikka’s Classic Hot Tub is manufactured entirely in Finland. We are proud of our production line and have made this Classic Hot Tub model for years using the same reliable process. The tub’s rim panels arrive at the factory as long stock. They are cut to length and made into a panel element into which the previously glued insulating base from Sastamala and the maintenance-free PE plastic tub moulded by Pipelifе from Oulu are inserted. Our experienced tub specialists drill the drain hole in the base, make the heater holes on the side and fit the hoses. Finally the package is carefully tipped on its side to fit the drain pipe.

Classic Hot Tub is delivered freight-free to its new happy owner, who only needs a water hose, firewood and fire-starting tools. The new owner must ensure the hot tub is installed level so water does not sit unevenly. Installation instructions are included, but in practice the owner just fastens the heater to a level surface with hose clips, screw in the heater drain valve and off you go — time for a soak.

Improved seating comfort in a rotationally moulded shell — also for taller bathers

The maintenance-free, rotationally moulded PE tub comes from nearby Pipelifе in Oulu. Their factory forms the tub from plastic granules in a precise process: the granules are placed in a mould which then rotates in an oven for an hour. After cooling the tub is ready to be moved to Hyvän Kaupan Paikka’s production line.

We have paid special attention to seating comfort when designing the tub. The sides are not vertical; a wedge-shaped insulating air gap is left between the tub and the rim panel, which is gentler on the bather’s back. Our tubs’ rims are on average higher than other manufacturers’, so taller bathers’ shoulders sink below the warm water surface and their necks do not get cold. Seat comfort is top class and legs are not cramped in this tub, because despite the height the bench is not too low.

Super-efficient marine-grade aluminium stove

The marine-grade aluminium stoves included in our hot tub kits are made in Finland. The powerful 35 kW stove is not afraid of sea water and can be used with either fresh or brackish water. Carefully selected material details make it a hot top-quality product. Marine-grade aluminium conducts heat well; the stove’s front plate is stainless steel and the glass door lets you check the fire without opening it. The stove kit includes two metres of chimney pipe and a rain cap, but if you want extra pipe, a chimney guard or spark arrestor, see the accessories list.

Remember that chlorine is not recommended with marine aluminium because chlorine oxidises marine aluminium. We recommend changing the water often enough and using active oxygen tablets (see accessories). Active oxygen treats the water for about a day, after which the water can be used for watering plants as it contains no added chemicals and is safer for children. Untreated water easily develops a slimy film on the tub edges, but active oxygen prevents this.

Easy maintenance with little effort

The Classic Hot Tub won’t have a frozen bottom even when the ground freezes. The 45 cm Styrox insulation in the base prevents cold reaching the tub bottom and helps keep the water warmer. A plastic cover is included, which significantly reduces heat loss. A well-heated hot tub can be reheated the next morning with a single load of wood.

Heat is also retained by Lunawood’s heat-treated pine panels, which finish the tub’s appearance as a rim material. You do not need to treat the pine panels if you do not want to — they will age to a beautiful grey over the years. If you want to keep the brown shade, apply wood oil annually. The plastic tub is maintenance-free since a seamless moulded tub has no seams where dirt collects. Remember to clean the tub surfaces when changing the water — it is easy with standard detergents. Careful users may disinfect the tub more often, but remember to handle the wastewater appropriately.
