Ion production requires an ioniser unit inside the machine. Ozone plates do not produce ions.

ABOUT IONISATION:
Negative ions produced into indoor air make lightweight, positively charged airborne particles stick together, forming larger, heavier particles that fall quickly out of the breathing zone.

Negative ionisation also breaks down volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that are harmful when inhaled. Toxic compounds produced by microbes and dispersed as aerosols cause serious health hazards when they reach the lungs and bloodstream. Heavier, non-dispersed microbial toxins cause harm mainly via spores that carry these dangerous toxins.

The effectiveness of ozone (O3) and negative ionisation relies on high concentrations.

When a device produces negative ions in addition to ozone, effectiveness can be 5–10 times higher than ozone alone, and high concentrations remove spores and odours effectively even from porous materials such as upholstery and bedding.

Fine particles in indoor air pose a serious health risk in homes and workplaces.

Harmful fine particles enter the bloodstream via the lower lungs (alveoli) and cause serious health problems in addition to asthma and allergies.

    Ozonation and negative ionisation are especially effective in a positively pressurised building.

    Ozone combined with negative ionisation produces compounds that effectively remove microbial spores and various odours, for example sewage gases, smoke smells, bacterial and mould toxins, and stubborn food‑ or smoke‑related odours.

    Ozone and negative ionisation also remove fine particles and MVOC (Microbial Volatile Organic Compounds) and VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds).

    Ozonation and negative ionisation produce a pleasant, easy‑to‑breathe indoor air that is good for people to be in.

    Together they create very clean indoor air suitable for workspaces.

Indoor ozonation cannot be carried out while people are present, because ozone is produced at high concentrations to kill microbial spores. The combined effect of high ozone concentration and negative ionisation achieves good cleaning even in porous materials. After treatment the space is ventilated and occupants may return.
