For sale: a fine and well-kept Honda Civic Type R, year 2002.

This is not an ordinary Civic, but the Civic that made many of us start listening to engine noise a little more closely. Light body, K20A2, 200 hp, 6-speed manual and the famous i-VTEC that doesn’t apologise when the revs rise.

The car has been well maintained, tidy inside and it has not been driven in winter during my or the previous owner’s ownership. Stored in a heated space. So not a winter car soaked in salt, but a hobbyist-appropriate example.

The right parts have been fitted where they matter:

New front anti-roll bar

The result is a car that feels, sounds and goes as a Type R should. This is not a car for someone looking for a quiet, soft ride for the shops. This is for someone who knows why the red R badge still gives a little twinge at the back of the neck.

The engine revs happily, the gearbox is mechanical and precise, and the whole car is a reminder of an era when driving pleasure was made with revs, not a touchscreen menu.

Good EP3 Type Rs are no longer being made. Many have been driven into the ground, built badly or seen too many winters. This is an example that has been kept warm and treated like a proper hobby car.
