For sale: a special Karmann body-swapped Volkswagen Beetle (1303S), fully gone through and finished.


The car was bought from an acquaintance in April 2021 and prior to that it stood in a warm garage for nearly 20 years.


The Beetle has been completely stripped, sandblasted and powder-coated underneath, so there is no worry about rust or underbody corrosion, and all old and worn parts have been replaced with new equivalents.


The engine has been opened, inspected and rebuilt with new parts, e.g. a Mahle piston set; the engine was checked at a machine shop and had bearings and seals renewed as required. A 34 mm carburettor was fitted in place of the old one and the car runs like a dream.


The chassis is excellent and the car is great to drive — no expense was spared when replacing parts: new drive shafts, shock absorbers, etc. Everything has truly been renewed.


The tyres were changed to new ones the summer before last and were precisely balanced at the same time.


The interior is in excellent, original condition — it has not been reupholstered.


The fabric sunroof is in excellent condition; the latches work as they should and it is watertight, so it does not whistle or let water in.


Some small parts left over from the project are included; these will be discussed with a serious buyer separately.


The car has only been used in summers and has been stored in a warm garage under a cover during winters, kept out of the dust.


Now a wonderful summer car for the next owner!
