People have created a society where you can’t build a sauna just anywhere. There is a solution, though: the Barrel sauna with a front terrace can be placed practically anywhere. Of course it’s sensible to put it on your own land to avoid disputes over ownership. Although the barrel sauna is small, its steam is generous. The sauna’s round shape directs the steam in a very different way to traditional saunas. Your toes won’t get cold and the steam won’t hit you sharply. Sauna for difficult sites

Barrel saunas are lightweight structures and can be moved even after the first steam sessions. The secret of a barrel sauna built on a solid gravel bed is that there are support feet under the barrel that keep the sauna off the ground and make moving it easy. The lack of heavy, permanent foundations makes siting the sauna simpler, and many use barrel saunas as lakeside saunas because you can’t build a permanent sauna right next to the shoreline. You can of course place your barrel sauna on a deck or pour a concrete base beneath it, but siting is mostly down to imagination. Still, remember to check with a spirit level so the sauna stands straight. The intention is not to take the sauna on the road in the middle of a steam session.

The barrel sauna can be moved with a forklift or tractor lift using slings. A sauna moved to the beach for summer can easily be moved closer to the cottage or house for winter with the help of a neighbouring farmer.

A small space wonder

The wooden sauna capsule can accommodate even 4–6 bathers depending on rear size and comfort preference. Quality benches pamper the bather with their warm tone. The Harvia M3 stove brings gentle heat into the barrel and, through the glass door, the cheerful play of the fire reflects as a warm glow on the sauna walls. Small windows and the door window also bring light into the barrel. You don’t need to stop because of lack of air: you can allow plenty of fresh air in by opening the door for a moment.

Greywater under control

The optional Sauna-Seppo wash-water filter removes greywater worries: water passed through the filter can be released back into nature without building control writing environmental fines.

Almost shoulder-carried delivery

We are happy to deliver the whole unit to your home yard and you do not need a lifting device if you choose delivery by HIAB truck. However, the Barrel sauna with front terrace weighs only 700 kg so you can also collect it with your own trailer if your vehicle has sufficient towing capacity. You could almost carry it on your shoulder and bring it home, but not quite. A trailer is better.

The delivery includes all essentials, roofing felt included. At the moment a building permit is required to construct the sauna, but we supply the architect plans for the building permit. The kit comes with illustrated instructions and you can request the building-permit drawings in advance so that when the delivery arrives you can immediately start working on your new garden sauna. You will need a drill, screwdriver, hammer, saw, tape measure, pencil and a calm enthusiasm for assembly. Always read the instructions carefully before performing each work phase.
