Before first use

• When you remove the product from its packaging, check for any damage. Contact the seller if you find damage.

• Leave the unit upright for at least half an hour. Any oil that may have flowed into the circuit during transport will then return to the compressor.

• The unit has adjustable feet. Adjust them before use so the toilet stands firmly and level.

• The toilet seat is intended for compostable waste, including toilet paper. Do not put anything that does not compost, such as rubbish, sanitary pads, chemicals, detergents, matches, ash or cigarette butts.

Placement
The toilet must be placed in a warm indoor space. It can be used on a heated floor thanks to the thick base insulation and high feet. Heat increases the unit’s power consumption, so we do not recommend placing it immediately next to radiators or other direct heat sources. Optimal room temperature is +10 to +22 °C, maximum +30 °C. Place the toilet on a level surface and adjust the feet to make it stable.

Use

• Press the bottom of the compostable bag into the bucket and fold its top edges over the rim so the bucket can be dropped into the toilet seat.

• Check that the bucket handle is inside so the seat ring and lid close correctly.

• Plug into the mains and switch the toilet on; the green indicator light will come on.

• Wait about one hour before use.

Emptying

• When the bucket is about two‑thirds full, the compostable bag should be replaced.

• Fold the bag’s top edges into the bucket and lift the bucket out of the seat.

• Compost the waste in a domestic or garden composter to which you have added plenty of dry material before emptying.

• Pierce the bag surface, e.g. with a garden fork, and cover with a layer of dry material.

• Check for any ice build‑up around the bucket well. Defrost if necessary and dry the walls.

• Fit a new bag in place.

Use of cover material
No cover material is needed in a freezing toilet. Cover material is only required for secondary composting.

Cleaning
Clean Ekohytte by wiping with a damp cloth. You may use any household cleaning products. The bucket can be removed from the seat and washed with water. Dry it before replacing. Do not use water to clean the rear cold well. Clean it once a year by vacuuming.

Longer periods out of use

• Unplug the unit

• Empty, clean and dry the bucket and cold well

• Leave the lid open

• The unit may be stored in an unheated space
