Before use

• When you remove the product from its packaging, check it for damage. Contact the seller if you find any damage.

• Leave the unit standing upright for at least half an hour. Any oil that may have flowed into the cooling circuit during transport will then return to the compressor.

• The unit has adjustable feet. Adjust them before use so that the toilet stands firmly and level.

• The toilet seat is intended for compostable waste, including toilet paper. Do not put anything that does not compost there, e.g. rubbish, sanitary pads, chemicals, detergents, matches, ash or cigarette butts.

Placement
The toilet must be placed in a warm interior. It can be used in a room with underfloor heating thanks to the thick base insulation and high feet. Heat increases the unit’s power consumption, so we do not recommend placing it immediately next to a radiator or other heat source. The optimal room temperature is +10–+22 °C, maximum +30 °C. The toilet must be positioned level and secured using its feet.

Use

• Press the bio‑bag into the bottom of the bucket and fold its edges over the top of the bucket so the bucket can be dropped into the toilet seat

• Check that the bucket handle is inside so the seat ring and lid close properly

• Plug into the wall socket and switch the toilet on; the green indicator light will illuminate

• Wait about one hour before first use

Emptying

• When the bucket is about two‑thirds full, the bio‑bag should be changed

• Tuck the top edge of the bio‑bag inside the bucket and lift the bucket out of the seat

• Compost the waste in a household or garden composter to which you have added plenty of bulking material before emptying

• Pierce the bag surface (e.g. with a garden fork) and cover with a layer of bulking material

• Check for ice build‑up around the base of the bucket. Defrost if necessary and dry the walls.

• Fit a new bag

Use of bulking material
No bulking material is needed for a freezing toilet. Bulking material is only required for subsequent composting.

Cleaning
Clean the Ekohytte by wiping with a damp cloth. All common household cleaners are suitable. The bucket can be removed from the seat and washed with water. Dry it before replacing. Do not use water on the rear cooling compartment. Clean it once a year by vacuuming.

Longer periods of non‑use

• Unplug the unit

• Empty, clean and dry the bucket and cooling chamber

• Leave the lid open

• The unit can be stored in an unheated space
