We at Good Deal Place might be in a playful mood and enjoy a bit of humour, so after one meeting we decided to stand a barrel sauna upright. That gave birth to the Standing Barrel Sauna — a fun sauna, though you can take the steam sessions seriously because this is a full-fledged sauna despite its novelty.

The Standing Barrel Sauna is a bit like the deodorant of saunas: it fits into almost any gap in the yard and even in apartment-block courtyards. No need for deodorant either — you will sweat in the sauna anyway. With a diameter of just 2.1 m, the only problem is that there are so many places you could put it. Of course you can order several Standing Barrel Saunas across your yard, but start with one to get a very compact yet functional sauna for a small space. A sauna for tricky locations

Barrel saunas are lightweight and can still be moved after the first steam sessions. The secret of a barrel sauna built on a solid gravel bed is the support legs under the barrel, which keep the sauna off the ground and make it easy to move. The lack of heavy or fixed foundations makes siting the sauna easier and many use barrel saunas as lakeside saunas, since a permanently founded sauna cannot be built right on the shoreline. You can of course place your barrel sauna on a terrace or cast a concrete base underneath, but siting is largely down to imagination. Still, remember to check the base with a spirit level so the sauna stands straight. The intention is not to take the sauna on the road mid-steam.

The barrel sauna can be moved with a forklift or a tractor lift using slings. A sauna moved to the beach for the summer is easy to move closer to the cottage or house for winter with the help of a neighbouring farmer.

In the Standing Barrel Sauna you can sit or stand

The unfinished wood sauna can be stained in your chosen colours. The spruce-built sauna capsule accommodates even 4–6 bathers who can decide whether to sit on the sturdy pine benches or enjoy the tall ceiling from standing positions. The Harvia M3 stove brings gentle heat to the barrel and the cheerful play of flames through the glass door casts a warm glow on the sauna walls. Small windows and the door window also bring light into the Standing Barrel Sauna. One window can be opened.

Handle wastewater responsibly

The optional Sauna-Seppo wash-water filter takes care of wastewater worries: water passed through the filter can be released back to nature without triggering environmental fines from building control.

Almost shoulder-carried delivery

We are happy to deliver the complete unit to your garden and you do not need lifting equipment if you choose delivery with a HIAB truck. The Standing Barrel Sauna weighs only about 800 kg so you can also collect it with your own trailer if your vehicle towing capacity is sufficient. You could almost carry it on your shoulder, but not quite. A trailer is better.

The delivery includes everything essential, roofing felt included. We can also provide architect drawings for authorities if needed, but nowadays this size of sauna should usually be possible without a formal building permit. Laying foundations is the customer's responsibility. The kit comes with pictorial instructions and building-permit drawings can be provided in advance on request so you can start assembling the new garden sauna as soon as it arrives. You'll need a drill, screwdriver, hammer, saw, tape measure, pencil and a calm enthusiasm for assembly. Always read the instructions carefully before each step.
