Is a dull summer coming? This will add a bit of excitement.


  • The car came to us in part-exchange about six months ago. On the first test drive it ran as it should and seemed in good driving condition. After restarting, however, the car began to shake and the exhaust emitted white smoke. The car was taken to a workshop where the diagnosis shown in the pictures was made.


  • Coolant has mixed with the engine oil. A pressure test of the coolant reservoir showed coolant clearly present at cylinders 2, 3 and 4, which explains the white smoke.
    There is a head gasket fault. The cylinder head has likely warped. The car has not been dismantled further.


  • The car stood outside over winter and has not started since without a booster. It was mouldy inside, so it was taken for cleaning. There is still some mould smell, so it may remain in a seam or crevice. The engine warning light came on and has not been investigated further.


  • The car struggles to pull away and smokes heavily when doing so. The car cannot be driven off the yard!
