Mercedes-Benz E, 1989, Vihti

This is a rare 260E 4‑matic (M103) (production approx. 1,000–1,200 units depending on source). Laid up in 2019 due to a head gasket issue; the head has now been machined, test-run and reassembled with new parts. Only high-quality parts used. Fuel system fully checked and renewed except for the KE‑Jetronic. (Many other engine parts replaced.) Driven approx. 1,000 km since without problems on temporary plates. 4‑matic works faultlessly; the car had restoration work before being laid up. Automatic gearbox and air conditioning present. Very tidy and intact interior. Underside not welded but there is one weld repair on the right rear wing (approx. 5×5 cm); it has been on a lift a couple of times and the whole underside has been tapped/checked. All drivetrain oils and filters changed. For the MOT only the exhaust repair remains — it leaks in three places, so at least the centre and rear silencers need replacing, and of course the rust spot. There is no solid price comparable as when I last checked there were no similar cars for sale in Europe. (Six months ago one was offered in the Netherlands for €18,900 — manual but in great condition.) This could be considered a collector's rarity. A real opportunity for someone with the time and money to bring it back to mint condition!
